Who is Eligible?

Any organization represented at the Healthcare Best Compliance Practices Forum II can be involved in this process. In addition, organizations of any size or type that are seriously interested and genuinely committed to the three purposes outlined above may participate. Our goal is to make the process as open as possible. We do not seek to claim turf, draw boundaries or build fences. Quite simply, we want to advance the field of healthcare compliance. We measure seriousness of interest and genuineness of commitment by an organization's willingness to participate in the process outlined below.

The Process

The Best Compliance Practices Process will be overseen by an independent Review Board of 7 to 10 individuals, to be coordinated by the senior staff of the Health Ethics Trust®, who will serve as non-voting members of the Review Board. Administrative support will also be provided by the Trust. In addition to the Review Board overseeing the process as a whole, task forces will be established as needed for each specific practice area. These practice areas will include at least the following:

    • code of conduct
    • general training and education
    • audit and control
    • hotline management
    • technical compliance training
    • billing, coding and information systems
    • CEO leadership
    • disciplinary procedures
    • physician involvement
    • organizational risk assessment
    • board involvement
    • investigation procedures
    • overall program excellence by industry sector

We anticipate that most of the work of the Review Board, as well as the task forces, will be conducted via teleconference. Face to face meetings will be arranged on an as needed basis.
